A Carnival Corporation executive directive. Six weeks. One question: who is the Princess guest at a private destination?

The Challenge

In summer 2025, a Carnival Corporation executive directive announced that Princess ships would begin calling at Celebration Key — a new private destination developed and built for Carnival Cruise Line. The operational reality was immediate and significant.

Princess had approximately six weeks from brief to public announcement, including creative assets, web presence, and a multi-touch communication stream to thousands of booked guests whose itineraries were being changed.

The Brand Truth

Two brands can share a physical destination and offer completely different experiences. The difference between those two experiences lives entirely at the values level.

My Role

Make a destination built for a different audience feel authentically Princess.

Develop the positioning, creative direction, photo and video assets, web presence, and guest communications that would make Celebration Key feel authentically Princess — not like a hand-me-down from a sister brand. All within six weeks.

What I Did

Found the Princess truth within what was already there.

The first question was not “what does Celebration Key look like?” It was: who is the Princess guest at a private destination day, and what does a perfect day mean to them? The Princess guest values pace and presence over spectacle and activity. Calm first, with activity accessible. A day that feels complete and unhurried.

Rather than reinventing what physically existed, I identified the aspects of the destination that genuinely aligned with the Princess pace-and-presence platform — the calm lagoon areas, the natural beauty, the ease of the beach experience — and built the positioning, creative direction, and communication strategy around that truth.

Photo and video production at record speed. Web presence built and launched. Multi-touch guest communications written, designed, and deployed. All within six weeks.
